Variable Frequency Drives
In this hands-on course, students will learn how variable frequency drives work and why they are important. Rotating equipment consumes 50% of the total electrical energy in the United States. Variable drive technology offers a cost-effective method to match driver speed to load demands and represents a state-of-the-art opportunity to reduce operating costs. Approximately 50% of the time students will spend working at hands-on training stations. This hands-on learning experience will also help each student to learn how to troubleshoot on these drives.
Course Overview
- Learn to troubleshoot and fine tune drive parameter settings to achieve significant energy savings and longer machine life
- Determine why your system is in bypass
- Utilize the energy-saving potential drives can bring and understand the costs of installing them on existing equipment
- Learn how to properly design and install adjustable speed drive systems, and how to correct previous improperly installed systems
- Experience, troubleshoot and fix common frustrating VFD problems
- Learn how to quickly respond to VFD WARNING or FAULT indications
- Become a valuable resource to your company, reducing the need for costly outside service contractors
